Shandong Academy of Textile Science is the only comprehensive textile scientific research institution with complete categories in Shandong Province. Founded in 1958 and formerly known as Shandong Textile Science Research Institute, it was renamed as Shandong Textile Science Research Institute in 1994, and is a public institution of financial balance subsidy.  

It has a number of scientific research and development institutions, including "China Textile Engineering Society National Textile Special Protective Equipment Testing and Development Center", "Shandong Textile Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Test Center", "Shandong Key Laboratory of Special Textile Processing Technology", "Shandong Textile Productivity Promotion Center", and "Qingdao Shandong Textile Technology Development Company". It has the advantages of talents, information, technology, achievements, scientific research means and scientific and technological services, ranks among the forefront of domestic peers in the research and development of special protective equipment testing instruments, and is the key guarantee material production unit for epidemic prevention and control.
